the pain

she sleeps with a picture in her hand,
staring at the picture as the eyes welling up with tears,
she tries to say i'm sorry,
but the person can no longer respond,
she closes her eyes,
letting the tears fall,
feeling the heat in the tears when
everything else feels cold,
she puts the picture on her chest,
hoping it will ease the pain in her heart,
and she is trying to sleep.

but the pain is still there.
